Project Summary
Tigerbob 1st Anniversary Exhibition celebrated the Tigerbob project with new digital illustrations of the titular character. The artwork expanded the Tigerbob Genesis pixel art and color themes by building a detailed world with florals around a full-body design of Tigerbob.The work is an example of my hand-drawn visual language, which is inspired by variations on tattoo flash (pre-drawn tattoo designs) and medieval European and Asian art. In particular I employ the use of atmospheric perspective with flora & fauna like Korean Minhwa, Japanese folding screens, Chinese hand scrolls, and Aubusson and mille-fleur woven tapestries.The story of Tigerbob is linear but not rigid like my past work in manga, comics, and sequential art. This set of illustrations build on the origin of Tigerbob and describe it as an otherworldly creature residing in the mysterious Elysian Garden.This project was released as an NFT (digital collectible) project in collaboration with Transient Labs.
