NFT - DIGITAL COLLECTIBLES

The Tigerbob brand initiated with the sale of the Tigerbob Genesis digital collectible in May 2022. Customers who purchased this digital collectible received digital art made by Gossamer Rozen. The sale of this initial project allowed Gossamer Rozen to expand their work by creating the Tigerbob brand.
Gossamer continues to explore digital art by publishing artwork for sale on various platforms. The tokenization of artwork provides a meaningful way for fans of this medium to support the artist and collect the work.

WHAT ARE DIGITAL COLLECTIBLES?

Digital collectibles are digital art pieces in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which utilize smart contracts to establish ownership of a specific, unique item. Unlike cryptocurrency which are fungible and interchangeable from one another, NFTs are unique (and therefore non-fungible).
For the Tigerbob brand, NFTs are used exclusively as digital collectibles, or digital art.

MEDIUM NATIVE

Gossamer’s current practice moves beyond still images published as NFTs. It becomes pertinent to explore the medium of digital art on a cryptocurrency such as Ethereum in its purest form on the blockchain. Permanence becomes a problem as pinned links disappear from storage such as IPFS. Therefore, publishing artwork, most often in the form of code, directly to the blockchain becomes an answer.
This is a new format to the artist, who is native in hand-powered processes, but recent explorations with p5js (Javascript) and the Art Blocks Studio platform have made this possible. Future work will continue to explore this medium with interactive digital artworks and games that require less and less off-chain assets & dependencies.
Gossamer has found a relationship with digital art & code and their hand-powered mediums & mark-making techniques, imagining the algorithms that power the artist’s affinity to the process.
